So, you have set a goal that sits just outside your comfort zone?


It will force to stretch and reach - to expand your knowledge, understandings and skills.


A goal creates both challenge and reward. The challenge to demonstrate goal directed behaviours that promote goal achievement, and the reward that comes with them.


So, what goal directed behaviours (actions) will you demonstrate to achieve your goal? What’s the first step you will take, and the next, and the next….?

Breaking a goal down into what is “doable” and actionable is critical to ensuring its achievement. This process moves a goal from theory to practice – from thinking to doing.


It also builds self-efficacy, self-determination and self-regulation through promoting progress towards goal achievement - creating a virtuous cycle of self-development.

The journey towards goal attainment starts with small, incremental steps that can be sustained over time.


Trying to do too much in a short time frame is unsustainable and risks burnout, resulting in feelings of failure.


Incremental and steady progress towards a goal achievement increases commitment, persistence and feelings of success.
